Michael Costello

Concert Pianist at MERA

Sunday, May 14th at 2:00 PM

Tickets are $25 at (see below)

We are excited to announce that local pianist Michael Costello will be offering a Chopin and Mozart concert at MERA on Sunday, May 14th at 2:00 PM.  Many years ago, Michael offered the first classical presentation by MERA at the Perth High School and it was a smash hit.

This time, Michael will be presenting half the music and half composed  Mozart and half by Chopin, his favourite composer.  He will be playing on  a Piano Controller, which creates a sound like the 1835 Pleyel piano that was synonymous with Chopin’s playing style.  He promises that it will be outstanding sound for our space.

Michael loves Chopin as he finds this composer's music to be "emotional, poetic and balanced, with outstanding musical structure", which has made Chopin's music a perennial favourite at concerts world-wide.  Mozart’s music is of course loved by everyone.

Michael is a well-known music teacher, who taught for a number of years at  Maple Grove School in Lanark.  While there, he offered a music program and offered popular Christmas concerts and singing programs.  Over the years, he has offered music training in a variety of situations, including a high school dixieland band.

Currently, Michael has a teaching and practice studio in Carleton Place, where he teaches students of all ages.

Tickets are available for $25 plus surcharge online at, by telephone 613-485-6434 or in person at the Matheson House Museum, 11 Gore St., Perth.  In keeping with MERA encouraging yourng people to appreciate good music, students under 16 are free.
