Join MERA - General Information
Membership in MERA starts in March every year at the time of our Annual General Meeting.

MERA is committed to...

  • Promoting greater access, awareness and understanding of crafts, arts, health, literary, and children's needs for the reisdents and families within a rural, friendly and informal environment.
  • Providing a learning facility for students to learn and practice skills in the fields of weaving and pottery, textile arts, arts in general, forms of exercise, miscellaneous workshops through the year. There is also an intensive program in place for students who wish to become full time professional weavers or potters.
  • Facilitating entertainment programs to gather the community for social events.
  • Volunteering:
MERA is run by volunteers and is always looking for people who are interested in learning new skills and who have some time to offer. The Schoolhouse was renovated by volunteers and is presently maintained by the generosity of a few people who donate their time... MERA cannot sustain itself without help from the community. Volunteers at MERA work in various areas including fundraising, promotions, construction, gardening, and kitchen wizards for special events. Our members have found volunteering a great way to learn new skills, meet new friends, and gain experience that enhances our community and the spirit.
